Company History

Are you curious about how all this got started?  Would you like to know what's happened up to now?  It's a story I'd love to share with you.

For many years I used my art to create teaching aids, affordable gifts and postcards for the children I taught--and learned from--in various church programs.  I sent out postcards with a short, personal note weekly

  • to encourage good attendance
  • to develop relationship with the children and their families and
  • to help them memorize the Bible verses we were focusing on.
One day before class a younger brother of a boy I had taught previously told me excitedly, "I got it!  I got it!"  Delighted by his enthusiasm but puzzled, I asked, "What have you got?"  "I finally got the card I've been waiting for," he said, to which I replied, "I have no idea what you are trying to tell me."

Then he explained to me that he and many of the children had collected the Bible verse postcards I sent out each week.  Now his collection matched and would soon exceed that of his older brother.  He also told me that one of the girls kept her postcards at home in a drawer tied up with a ribbon.  What an encouragement that was for me!  These precious children were taking God's Word into their hearts and minds, treasuring them enough to hold onto each one.  Soon after a parent confided that she had never learned the words of the Bible as a child and so the postcards had been a great help to her.  They remained on the kitchen table so all the family members could begin to learn the words and discuss their meaning.  Thanks be to God!  He took a small gesture of obedience on my part and multiplied the blessings beyond what I could ever have imagined.

Some time later another friend said, "You know, Net, what you do isn't just a hobby; it's a business.  You should pursue that."  I'd never thought of that.

And so in 1999 I applied for and was grateful to receive permission from Zondervan Publishing Company to combine my illustrations with their NIV®  translation of the Bible and Net's Art (now Net's Art, Inc.) began.  What was once done exclusively for the children has been expanded to address the needs of adults as well.  I am doing work I absolutely love, work that has the potential to reach many more people than I would ever have been able to reach working alone.  Let me express my heartfelt thanks to each of you who buy and distribute these products.  I simply couldn't do this without you.  One day we'll hear all the stories of how God spoke His wonderful words and transformed lives.  And we'll rejoice together that we got to be a part of that.
