For many years I used my art to create teaching aids, affordable gifts and postcards for the children I taught--and learned from--in various church programs.  In 1992, while working with 8 to 11 year olds, I sent out weekly postcards with a short, personal note on one side and a Bible verse on the other.  My intent was to

* encourage good attendance

* develop relationship with the children and their families

* help them memorize the Bible verses we were focusing on and

* demonstrate to them that the lessons we were learning extended beyond the doors of the church

One Sunday morning the younger brother of a boy I had taught previously excitedly announced, "I got it!  I got it!"  Both puzzled and delighted, I asked him what it was he had gotten, to which he replied, "I finally got the card I've been waiting for."

When I asked for further explanation, he told me that he and many of the children had collected the postcards I sent out each week.  Now his collection matched and would soon exceed that of his older brother. He also told me that one of the girls kept her postcards tied up with a ribbon.  What an encouragement that was for me!  These precious children were not only taking in the lessons we were learning, they were literally holding on to God's Word.  Soon after a parent confided that she had never learned the words of the Bible as a child and so the postcards were a great help to her.  They remained on the kitchen table so all of her family could learn together.  It was a nonthreatening way to learn a step at a time.  Thanks be to God!  He took a small gesture of obedience on my part and multiplied the blessings beyond what I could ever have imagined.

Some time later another friend said, "You know, Net, what you do could be a business.  You should pursue that."  I certainly had never considered that before.  I began to pray about it and to expect God to answer.

And so in 1999 I applied for and was grateful to receive permission from Zondervan Publishing Company to combine my illustrations with their NIV®  translation of the Bible and Net's Art (now Net's Art, Inc.) began.  What was once done exclusively for the children has been expanded to address the needs of adults as well. We now have the potential to reach many more people than I could ever have reached working alone.

Let me express my heartfelt thanks to each of you who buy and distribute these products.  When an order comes in and I am preparing to mail it, I think about the potential each order has to impact lives.  If a customer buys even one pack of 5 notecards, that represents an opportunity for 5 people to be impacted by the living Word of God.  I don't just add up the dollars, I consider the people who will be encouraged, comforted, challenged or changed because you shared God's Word.

In 2012 we attained permission to use the updated version of the NIV® translation and also the ESV® translation.  We were also given our first opportunity to attend a Homeschoolers Convention, which was an absolute delight.

None of us knows what new adventure God will put before us in the days ahead.  I rejoice in knowing that working together we can get the Word out.  Thank you for partnering with me in this endeavor.
